This blog is my outlet to express the wonderful things that inspire me every day! It’s also a way for me to keep in touch with the “real” world – as I’m a web designer and spend much of my time beautifying the internet. There’s nothing like the smell of fresh stationary, or the feeling of a finished project in your hands – which is why I need to keep in touch with the “real” world as much as possible! Here is a recent picture of me on a good day. However, some days you’ll find that I don’t wear makeup… or pants for that matter. Sometimes it’s on purpose (just because I can) and some days I am genuinely too busy to remember to put on pants. Stressful or not, I LOVE what I do and can’t wait for when my “stay-at-home” job turns to “stay-at-home-mom.”
A Little About Me
I was raised in, and currently live in Idaho, with my husband of almost six years! We both went to college here, and I run my web design business from our cute little house out in the country. We have a truck, a dog, a big yard, a white picket fence, and my morning run is alongside corn fields. It’s like one big country song. Minus the alcoholism.
While I feign a cute country lifestyle, my mom will tell you I’m a city girl at heart. I’ve lived in and visited several places, and love to travel, love fashion, and still do my makeup, even if the mailman is the only person that sees me.
We have two kitties, and a 7 month old puppy who is the smartest dog in the world! These are our only babies for now, as we’ve struggled with infertility for quite awhile. Luckily, we know what the problem(s) are and are actively “trying” with the assistance of meds and doctors! I’ll probably write about this in the least amount of detail as possible until I actually get pregnant, when my blog will turn into an obsessive pregnant-belly and baby-picture fest.
A Little About My “Job”
As I mentioned before, I’m a blog and web designer and work full time from home. I graduated college with two degrees in Advertising and Digital Media Production, and discovered blogging during my first job at a TV station. I quickly found a love for design and started a business offering designs to my readers! I was able to take my “hobby” full-time in June 2010, and it has been a challenging dream career ever since! I work long hours, have had hundreds of clients, have spoken at conferences, taught classes, and learned SO much in four short years. I am constantly learning the latest trends in design and techie stuff, and love being able to do it all from home.
I previously blogged and designed at April Showers Design Studio, but recently transformed that and my other endeavors into one, big, fancy “umbrella” business known as Creative Girl Media. It’s a place for bloggers to gain information and valuable tips on blogging, take classes, and learn via e-books and videos. It is also where I will be offering design and other services in the near future, after the transfer is complete. I also started The Blog Designer Network, which is a place for blog designers to network and grow their online businesses! While I would LOVE to start about a zillion other businesses, these keep me incredibly busy (way too busy, most of the time) so I live vicariously through the people I teach and their amazing ideas :D
About This Blog
I’ve started a few blogs over the years, but my personal blog ended up turning into my design site. While I was grateful that it became my career, I’ve been lacking a place to express my creativity outside the internet. I wanted to share my life, my passions, and ramble incessantly without worrying about my brand or business. My goal for this site is to simply share what inspires me – from delicious food to the latest weight loss trend, from trying to organize my home to DIY decor, and from my favorite beauty tips to pretending the things I wear are in style…it is all fair game. My blog design will also change as often as my underwear because I’m just that neurotic.
So there you have it! I hope you’re as excited as I am about this blog! (Or at least marginally interested…) You can find me below on a variety of social media, so follow me to stay updated on every insignificant facet of my life! Yay!
